WI-FI Best Practices Print

When setting up your WI-FI either at home or at your business, certain practices should be considered. It's no doubt that WI-FI has changed the landscape of SOHO networks. With that in mind, take these steps to ensure a smooth WI-FI experience.

  1. Place the WI-FI router in the center of your home, preferably upstairs.
  2. If there isn't much interference, hard code your WI-FI frequencies channels.
  3. Put devices closer to the router on the 5Ghz band and farther devices on the 2.4Mhz band.
  4. Always protect your WI-FI network with the latest WPA standards - WPA2/AES
  5. Use wireless MESH devices to cover dead zones within your home or business.
  6. Always make sure your router is up-to-date with the latest firmware.
